LSAMP SCHOLARSHIP

Houston Louis Stokes for Minority Participation (H-LSAMP) is an academic excellence program designated for outstanding high school students who are interested in pursuing a degree in the sciences,technology,engineering, and mathematics(STEM) fields.The scholarship is funded through the National Science Foundation and awarded by the LSAMP scholarship offices.Applicants must be a US citizen or permanent residence.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Level 1: President's Award
High School valedictiorian:high school grade point average of at least 3.0;graduation in the first quartile of senior class SAT score of 1000 or better(Math 450 or better,verbal 450 or better); ACT composite score of 21 or better (Math 19 or better,verbal 19 or better);Compeletion of rigorous high school curriculum,which includes three years of science and mathematics (mathematics courses through pre-calculus and calculus preferred) with grades of "B" or better;Interest in majoring in sciences, technology,engineering,or mathematics.

Level 2: Provost's Award
High school salutatorian;graduation in the first quartile or senoir class;SAT score of 950 or better (math 450 or better verbal 450 or better); ACT composite score of 20 or better (Math 19 or better,verbal 19 or better);compeletion of rigorous high school curriculum,which includes three years of science and mathematics (mathematics courses through pre-calculus and calculus preferred) with grades of "B" or better;Interest in majoring in sciences, technology,engineering,or mathematics.

Level 3: Dean's Award
High school salutatorian;graduation in the first quartile or senoir class;SAT score of 950 or better (math 450 or better verbal 450 or better); ACT composite score of 20 or better (Math 19 or better,verbal 19 or better);compeletion of rigorous high school curriculum,which includes three years of science and mathematics (mathematics courses through pre-calculus and calculus preferred) with grades of "B" or better;Interest in majoring in sciences, technology,engineering,or mathematics.

DESCRIPTION OF AWARDS

President's Award: $10,000 per year
Provost's Award: $8,000 per year
Dean's Award $2,000 -$7,000 per year
