Early Admission - Dual Course Credit Partnership

The University offers for dual credit selected college-level academic courses as listed in the current edition of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board‘s ("THECB") Lower Division Academic Course Guide Manual ("ACGM").

Specific course offerings will be determined collaboratively by TSU and Partnering High School.

Course selections may be offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters with location to be determined between the University and the School each semester. The University will use the available technology as is appropriate to deliver courses to off-campus sites/online.

Dual credit course section are composed of dual credit students only. The Partnering High School shall provide, at no cost to the university, a Partnering High School employee or other individual agreed upon by both parties to proctor assessments as needed for online dual credit courses and to serve as a facilitator or mentor to the students. Students must maintain a "C" or better to continue enrollment in the Dual Credit program of courses. Student may enroll in no more than six semester credit hours per eligible semester for up to two years while being concurrently enrolled in the Partnering High School.

Any student admitted under the early admission policy who remains in good standing through high school graduation will automatically have his/her status upgraded to "unconditional undergraduate admission." However, the student must provide an official copy of the final High school transcript with evidence of date of graduation.

Early Admissions Requirements

  • Successful completion of the 11th grade
  • Complete Early Admission Application - Parent/Guardian signature is required by law
  • Official High School Transcript
  • Evidence of a level of academic achievement that promises successful completion of college work.
    • STAAR minimum scores: English III EOC-4000, Algebra II EOC-4000 Or,
    • SAT minimum scores: Evidence Based Reading and Writing (EBRW)-480, Mathematics-530 Or,
    • ACT minimum scores: English-19, Mathematics-19, Composite-23
  • Letter of Recommendation from a high school guidance counselor or principal.

Financial Assistance/Tuition/Fees

Early Admission students are considered to be in college and high school at the same time, federal regulations prohibit eligibility for any form of federal financial assistance with tuition and fees (grants or loans).

While the University does not require an application fee for Early Admission applicant once admitted and enrolled students must purchase their own textbooks.
